Roulette Strategies

Over the years, people have come up with Roulette strategies to try and beat the game of Roulette. Below I’ll go over some of the strategies people use now in casinos.

The Martingale Strategy
The Martingale Strategy is probably the most popular strategy people try to use for Roulette. So basically how it works is the player doubles up his or her bets. First the player will make a bet on either red or black, odd or even. With the The Martingale Strategy, If the player loses they will place another bet on the same choice for double the money continuing this process until the player wins. Once the player wins the process starts all over again. This strategy was developed in the 18th century by a group who made of strategies for all kinds of games. The Martingale Strategy has it’s flaws though because there is no 50/50 chance due to the 0 & 00 on the board. Also, at most casinos there is a maximum bet allowed to be made so at some point, the player loses without actually winning or losing. Using this system may increase your odds of winning when it comes to short-term gaming. Over time, the strategy may not prove to be so profitable.

The Labouchere System
Like the Martingale Strategy, The Labouchere System is also uses progressive betting however, with this one you aren’t putting as much at stake with doubling up every turn. So how do you figure out how much your next bet will be? You’ll add the numbers at the front and end of the line to figure out the size of the next bet. When the player has won, they will cover the numbers and works on the smaller line, if the player loses, the previous bet will be added to the end of the line and will work on the longer line now. This strategy is more based off of the players own preference rather than just doubling. This system is designed so that when the player loses the bets go up preparing for a big win.

The D’Alembert System
This system is also referred to as Montant et Demontant which means upwards & downwards in French, is also called a pyramid strategy. Basically this system is like the Martingale system however you are not doubling bets simply just adding or subtracting one unit each round if the player wins, they will subtract a unit if they lose, they’ll add a unit. This system was figured out by a French Mathematician and follows the Gambler’s Fallacy, the player is more likely to lose after a win & win after a loss.

Some actually try to make a profit off of gaming strategies by selling literature online educating players on how they can beat the system. Players must keep in mind that none of these strategies are 100% reliable and are advised to use descretion when applying these strategies.
